actfirst drama® offers term-time after school children’s drama classes, for children aged 7 to 17, in the Hampton Hill area of South West London, convenient for Twickenham, Teddington, Hampton, and Richmond-upon-Thames.
Founded in 1999, actfirst drama® is dedicated to providing high-quality professional tuition in a fun and informal environment, plus the opportunity to perform on stage. A member of the National Association of Youth Theatres (NAYT), we aim to inspire and develop drama and performance skills – mainly acting, and also incorporating movement and mime. Most importantly students learn, through drama, to develop the communication, confidence and teamwork skills essential to their future careers. The emphasis is always on fun!
Students are also offered the opportunity to take examinations in Acting, Speaking Verse and Prose, or Speaking in Public, through LAMDA (London Academy of Music & Dramatic Art), and actfirst drama students have achieved a 100% pass rate, with the majority achieving distinctions or merits.

During this coming Autumn term, all groups will be rehearsing for the actfirst shows at Hampton Hill Theatre. Dates are Monday 16th (Seniors only) and Tuesday 17th December 2019. There are a couple of places available for the Seniors production of “Macbeth”. Ages 14 to 17. If you or your child is interested let me know. Enthusiasm and commitment are vital. Experience preferred but in no way essential.
Congratulations to Suri for her continued success, being cast in professional productions, most recently “The Wolf of Wall Street”. A major achievement and a great opportunity! Well done Suri.
Congratulations to LAMDA students for outstanding Summer term exam results. All Distinctions or high Merits. Brilliant!
Many congratulations to all actfirst students for their fantastic performances at Hampton Hill Theatre in December 2018. Younger groups were amazing in the panto, “Captain Hook’s Revenge”. I had so many compliments from audience members, from “outstanding acting” to “great fun and lots of gags – the cast were clearly loving every minute!”
Inter 2 and Seniors performed two shorts plays – “Zoo” and “The Wardrobe” – again, fantastic comments. The level of acting was excellent in two really challenging plays. Well done to all.
What people say about actfirst children’s drama classes:
“My sons have been students with Actfirst Drama for a number of years and they absolutely love going to class every week. They have both grown in confidence and skill on stage and I feel their training has helped them find their voices outside drama as well.
The best thing about Actfirst is that it’s an independent school with one amazing teacher who gets to know all the children well so she can help each one grow in their skills and confidence. Jacquie is a gifted, dedicated, charismatic educator who makes every lesson fun as well as purposeful.
Whether your child already loves the spotlight or needs a little encouragement to let their light shine, I’m sure they will enjoy being a part of Actfirst drama and develop wonderful skills they will use throughout their life.” E Purton, Twickenham.
“I wanted to take the opportunity to say a huge thank you for the very positive impact your drama classes have had on my daughter’s life. In drama she has found a real passion, thanks in no small part to your great skill and infectious enthusiasm. Coming to actfirst on Tuesdays has been the highlight of her week. Many thanks for all you have done to boost her confidence.” – Sue, Teddington.
“What a fantastic show you put on, my whole family enjoyed it so much. Before Sophia joined your drama group she was very shy but I have noticed a big difference in her. She speaks up a lot more in public and full of confidence with her peers and teachers in school.” – S.Bennett
“Jacquie is an inspiring teacher who really gives every child confidence and develops their abilities. Both my children have enjoyed enormously and gained greatly from Jacquie’s LAMDA tuition, which has boosted their confidence as well as gaining UCAS points. My daughter is now a member of the Rose Youth Theatre and had a leading role in The Rose production of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe: we are all convinced that Jacquie’s encouragement and expert tuition gave her the confidence and skills to gain these opportunities.” Helen, Hampton Hill.
“My son adores his drama class and is inspired and stimulated by the work they do there. It’s amazing what the class manages to achieve each term and I have watched him grow in confidence and ability over the two years that he has been doing the class. The teaching is first rate.” – M Gallagher. Twickenham
